Write up by Submerryn Blogger’s Review on BBQ Poolside Party

I attended a Poolside BBQ party today. Quite an interesting one because there are so much to do to keep ourselves occupied. The first thing that caught Ethan’s eyes is the Kids’ Jewelry Making Station by Kelvin Gems. He quickly ran to me saying he wanted to make me something. This boy, just earlier we had a heated argument and now he is dying to make me a jewelry. *Heart melt*

He told me to choose either a bracelet or a necklace. I chose bracelet and he quickly got busy. Look at the beads he chose. All so cute!

It’s done. Beautiful isn’t it? He told me, “Mummy, if you wear this, adik sure will like it because everything is so cute”. Haih, this Ethan. Sometimes he drives me crazy. Other times, he is just too sweet.

Abundance of food. When Sidney first invited me to this BBQ Party, I was hesitant as I never liked BBQ if I have to DIY. Imagine going all nice and ending up drenched in sweat like somebody has just thrown you into the pool. Only when he informed me that there will be chefs doing all the grilling that I agreed to attend. Yes, I am diva like that.

I never know we can actually hire BBQ pits and chefs for parties until today. These are all from Bakarlah BBQ & Rental.

Nice idea to have all the BBQ-ed meat and fish on banana leaves.

My plate of shishamo grilled fish! I love shishamo fish although I always feel guilty eating these pregnant fellas -.-

NY Shack

Delicious meatball pasta from NY Steak Shack for the kids. Actually I had some also. Shh.. don’t tell the host.

There were many beautiful cakes too and I heard they are from Eastin Hotel. My favourite is this cheesecake:

Cheesecakes from Eastin Hotel

What can I say? I am a cheesecake monster and this is just too good. I officiate the cake by cutting it when no one was looking (after getting the approval from the host of course) and quickly took a quarter of it before anyone sees me. I am not greedy, it is just that there were many other cakes around so I am actually helping to eat.

Let’s see the rest of the cakes:

This was very nice too. I think it is chocolate cheesecake.

This I left untouched as other guests were starting to stare at me like I am some kind of a cake hogger crazy woman or something. But I really love cakes lor…

We also had a photo session by The PhotoZ.

And here’s a picture taken by Zung himself. I looked macam baru kena marah kan? This was actually for a head shot also and I was told to look down… Picture credit to Leona.

I left shortly after so I did not get to see the end result of the shot. We did not go for a dip in the pool neither as both Ethan and I are down with flu. Thank you Sidney for having us. I must go out and meet people more lah coz today, I found myself with many new faces and realised that I do not know how to mingle anymore 🙁

She did it so fast and smooth while I was like struggling to fix every charm. But I enjoyed the learning process. It not easy so we should appreciate all the handmade stuff. Well, in between Angie helped and showed me the easier way to do it.

DIY Fresh Water Pearl Jewellery for Mom

RM599 EJS by Angie (Elegant Jewellery Studio) Make Jewellery for Mom with Fresh Water Pearl Workshop / RM20 MyBatik Batik Coloring Workshop / RM18 Green Tomato Cafe Eggs Benedict poached eggs with Turkey ham on toast, finished with hollandaise sauce / RM14 Green Tomato Cafe Pancake Plain and simple with 100% pure maple syrup with fresh fruit

How cool it is to be invited to hand-make UNIQUE, ONE-and-ONLY Jewellery (Ahem!) for my mum!

My mum loves pearl, and she wears almost only pearls necklace nowadays on daily basis. She’s gonna love my specially hand crafted Mother’s Day present made with fresh water pearls!

Frankly speaking, I was thrilled but skeptical at the same time as I doubt my creation will be as nice as those on shelves. I have no experience in hand-making jeweleries, I don’t do beading, I don’t buy bead craft materials.

But this proved me wrong! I went last Sunday, and in a mere 3 hours time (or less, I finished mine earlier), I made professional-looking necklace (bracelet and stud earrings too)! Thanks to EJS by Angie (Elegant Jewellery Studio) , instructed by Angie Ng the Creative Director of Kelvin Gems. Angie is a kind lady and she’s patient enough to guide me till I finished my creation. The workshop is worth every penny as the materials like fresh water pearls are costly.

The jewellery making workshop by EJS is organized at Yayasan Seni, Persiaran Ritchie, a landmark where fun-filled activities and creative learning program are surrounded by the greens in the hub of Kuala Lumpur. At Yayasan Seni, visitors get to see Batik Making, paint Batik, buy Batik, learn floral arrangement, drink Coffee, learn Latte Art, and eat Green Tomato. No, I mean dine at Green Tomato.

The crowd at Green Tomato Cafe is always heavy and their menu is too tempting not to try. I ordered Green Tomato signature dishes Eggs Benedict poached eggs with Turkey ham on toast, and a Pancake with maple syrup. Eggs Benedict is nice but the cheese is a bit salty to me. I love the pancake, it’s soft and tastes just right. Under the ambient surrounded by trees and birds, everything tastes much nicer.

If you have no plan for this Mother’s Day (11 May, Sunday), why not join the crowd and enjoy a fun-filled weekend at Yayasan Seni with mom and family! This place could be an ideal hang-out location for both kids and adults.
